i.safe MOBILE is a German manufacturer and world market leader in explosion-protected mobile communications, based in Lauda-Koenigshofen. It develops and manufactures intrinsically safe phones, smartphones and tablets for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and industrial environments, with selected devices now produced entirely in Germany. The company employs more than 130 people and operates internationally through subsidiaries in Singapore and Australia and the Exloc Instruments businesses in the UK and USA.

The range covers intrinsically safe smartphones, rugged feature phones, Android and Windows tablets, push-to-talk over cellular radios and the world’s first Ex-certified industrial smartwatch. Yes. The Android devices are Android Enterprise Recommended and zero-touch capable, so they integrate cleanly with mobile device management platforms for remote configuration, security policies and app deployment. As an Android Enterprise Silver Partner, i.safe MOBILE meets Google requirements for certified, enterprise-grade hardware, making the devices well suited to managed fleets across large industrial sites.

Many i.safe MOBILE devices include a dedicated push-to-talk key and a programmable SOS button, supporting push-to-talk over cellular and lone worker protection workflows. The dedicated PoC radios are designed specifically to replace traditional analogue radios with secure push-to-talk over the mobile network. These features help keep teams connected and protected when working alone in hazardous or remote environments.

Zone 1/21 devices are certified for areas where an explosive gas or dust atmosphere is likely to occur during normal operation, which is the more demanding classification. Zone 2/22 devices are certified for areas where such an atmosphere is only likely to occur occasionally or for short periods. Selecting the correct range depends on the area classification of the site, so it is worth confirming the zone requirement before ordering.
